Wild Hearts, Wild Grace: A Student Summit Recap
If you walked within a mile of Summit this past weekend, you probably heard it before you saw it! The roar of the students and counselors during the games wasn’t just about winning a trophy; it was the sound of a generation coming alive.
But as the echoes of the cheers faded into the evening air, something even louder happened in the quiet. We saw hearts change. We saw chains break. We saw what happens when the "wild" love of God meets a heart ready to be found.
The Source of the Wild
Our anchor for the weekend was 1 John 4:19:
"We love because he first loved us."
It’s a short verse, but it’s a game-changer. Often, we try to force ourselves to be better or try harder to love God and others. Student Summit Weekend was a reminder that our love is a response. God is the initiator! He didn't wait for us to get our act together; He came to us and made a way.
His love is wild because it doesn’t follow the world’s rules of earn-and-deserve. It’s unchanging, abounding, and steadfast.
From the Field to the Light
The transformation we saw this weekend happened in two distinct volumes:
The Loud Joy: From the soccer pitch to nine square, the joy was infectious! There is something holy about seeing students play with abandon. It reminded us that being "Wild at Heart" means having the freedom to be exactly who God created us to be without the weight of the world’s expectations!
The Brave Light: Some of the most wild moments, however, happened in the circles and the quiet times. Students brought things to the light; confessed struggles, shared burdens, and dropped the masks they’ve carried for years.
The result? The same voices that were screaming for their team during the day were lifted in a different kind of roar during worship. A roar of victory over shame.
Bringing the Wild Home
The Summit may be over, but the "Wild at Heart" life is just beginning. We don’t have to leave the freedom we found at Summit behind. Because He first loved us, we are now free to:
Live without fear (knowing our identity is secure).
Love without limits (because our tank is filled by Him).
Stay in the light (because grace is always bigger than our secrets).
Thank you to every student who came with an open heart and every leader who poured out their time! Stay wild, stay free, and keep loving because He loved you first.
