Overview:

The Camp Mom acts as an assistant to the Camp Care Coordinator and collaborates  with the nurse  and helps counselors care for campers who are struggling physically, emotionally, or behaviorally. Free from daily programmatic and management responsibilities, the Camp Mom is available to be present with campers as the need arises. She contributes to the overall culture and experience of camp for campers and staff by providing gospel-centered care. She will report to the Camp Care Coordinator  and Camp Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the camp nurse in the event of an emergency.

  • Stepping in to help a counselor mediate a conflict between campers. 

  • Praying with and for campers and staff. 

  • Serve as a nurturing supporter for both camper and staff offering care, encouragement and listening ear throughout the camp experience.

  • Be flexible and ready to step into cabins, activities or any area where care is needed at any time of day or night.

  • She will work in collaboration with the Camp Care Coordinator, Camp Administrator, and Camp Nurse in the event that a camper needs to leave camp due to unforeseen circumstances. Further details are outlined in the contract.

  • Processing with a homesick camper while a counselor stays with the rest of the cabin.Sitting with a camper who is having to sit out during a game until they can rejoin.

  • Qualifications:

  • A self-professing Christ follower, actively involved in a Christian faith community and actively pursuing Christ on a consistent basis.

  • Heart for the nations with proven spiritual leadership experience.

  • Passion for adventure and the outdoors, along with a deep commitment to Christian faith and values.

  • Enjoys relational ministry, knowledgeable about child development, and experienced in caring for kids 7-18 - their own or those of other people.

  • Familiar with Camp BlueSky preferred (e.g. children are former/current campers or staff, former staff member or camper themselves, has volunteered with BlueSky in another capacity)

  • Available for 1-2 weeks of camp

  • Physically able to be on her feet throughout the day.

  • Willing to complete Child Safety Training(digitally)

    Requirements:

  • Commitment to the BlueSky Vision: Purpose, Mission, and Core Values.

  • Willingness to commit for at least 2 weeks ( 2 Camp sessions)

    Financial Details: 

  • Camp BlueSky will pay for all room & board for the time the Camp Mom serves at camp.
