Camp BlueSky Spiritual Life Coordinator


Length of Service: 10 weeks, May 20, 2023 - July 26, 2023 


Overview:

The Vision of BlueSky Global Ministries exists to see the multinational community in Nairobi, Kenya, spiritually transformed and equipped to influence the world for God’s glory. We build relationships through adventure through three main avenues in Nairobi, Kenya: Camp BlueSky, BlueSky Adventures, and BlueSky Community.  The Spiritual Life Coordinator (SLC) serves on the Camp BlueSky seasonal team providing spiritual teaching and care for campers and staff. This position reports directly to the Camp BlueSky Managing Director.  

 

Our campers are multinational and Kenyan students living in Nairobi, Kenya and around East Africa. Nairobi is an extremely diverse and growing city and our campers are likely to become the national and world leaders of the future. There is a great need for them to know Christ, deepen their faith, and grow in character! The Spiritual Life Coordinator will engage in ministry in a multicultural context while being part of a seasonal team of international peers under the guidance and mentorship of the Camp BlueSky Managing Director.


Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the Managing Director and Program Manager to create a creative theme for camp. This may include camp-wide devotionals, age and gender specific devotionals, and other Christ-centered programs.

  •  Responsible for developing, along with the worship music coordinator, each evening worship night that includes delivering a cross-culturally relevant message to all campers. 

  • Work alongside the Staff Care Team and Managing Director to provide encouragement and care to summer staff.

  • Train and encourage staff members in speaking opportunities as camp allows. This includes training counselors in sharing their testimonies, cabin devotionals, and additional opportunities that camp provides. 

  • Assist with staff training/orientation and debrief.
     

Qualifications: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Deep Biblical knowledge 

  • Experience sharing faith to children, youth, and young adults

  • Experience in managing and caring for staff

  • Ability to work independently/self-manage

  • Experience working cross-culturally

  • Willing to relocate to Nairobi, Kenya, and serve for 3-4 months of the year

  • Should be at least 24 years old

 

Cost:

All BlueSky ministry staff are volunteers who contribute or raise the necessary funds to cover the expenses involved in serving at Camp BlueSky. The required amount will vary based on travel costs, position, and length of service. BlueSky leadership staff will provide resources and coaching for seasonal staff who need to raise financial support for their season of ministry.
